EC&S Gas-Fired Reverberatory Furnaces

As a turn-key foundry engineering and industrial construction firm, EC&S designs, manufactures and installs gas-fired reverberatory furnaces for clients across the globe. These furnaces are high-volume melt systems for medium to large-sized aluminum die-cast operations. Reverberatory furnaces have large melt reservoirs, ensuring a steady supply of melted aluminum for multiple die-casting processes. In many manufacturing plants, one centrally located reverberatory furnace can supply concurrent casting operations.

Reverberatory Furnace Design Characteristics

Reverberatory furnaces melt recycled aluminum or aluminum ingots with heat that radiates from the oven’s refractory brick lining. Heat is supplied by gas-fired burners, which are typically placed against one side to heat one wall of the chamber. Although the metal is never exposed to the fuel, it does come into contact with combustion gases, forming slag and accounting for some metal loss. EC&S engineers have incorporated these modern innovations into our reverberatory furnace designs to improve efficiency and minimize material loss:

  • Enhanced burner technology
  • Better fuel-to-air ratio control
  • Higher refractory insulation values
  • Tighter temperature control
